On Thursday, May 23rd 2013, a workshop of experts to evaluate and provide input from United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, as well as a global perspective, on the draft United Nations Declaration Right to Peace took place at the University of Middlesex. Vijay Mehta, Chair of Uniting for Peace along with distinguished delegates including Dr. William Schabas, Professor in the School of Law, Carlos Vill f¡n Durf¡n, Spanish Society for International Human Rights Law, Cess Flinterman, Member of Human Rights Committee, David Fern f¡ndez Puyana, Specialist on International Human Rights Law and Millius Palayiwa, Director of Fellowship of Reconciliation England gave their input in all the sessions of the workshop.
The workshops included
- the individual dimension of the Right to Peace
- the collective dimension of Right to Peace
A debate followed in which main issues around peace were discussed. A consensus document called, London Declaration on the Human Rights to Peace was produced.
