On 9th of November at House of Lords Uniting for Peace hosted their Annual Conference on Britain IN/OUT – what is best for peace ? The event was opened by UfP Chair Vijay Mehta who urged the urgency of this campaign and also announcing the launch of UfP’s Europe for Peace count me in campaign and requested the audience to take the campaign booklet with them and assist UfP to start and gain momentum for the positive outcome of UK referndum on EU membership by highlighting EU’s peace endeavours.
The speakers who spoke at the conference included Lord MacLennan, Jean Lambert, Lord Roger Liddle, Brendan Donnelly, Vijay Mehta and Rev. Philip Foster. There was a wide ranging discussion on EU issues and vibrant Q&A session afterwards. The event was ably chaired by Rita Payne, President Commonwealth Journalists Association.
It was a great opportunity to build bridges between yes and no campaign and work together to create a common vision for Britain and Europe to tackle the multiple crisis, humankind faces for a better, peaceful and sustainable future.
