A World on Fire: Breaking the Cycle of Endless Wars
On 23 October 2025, Uniting for Peace hosted a powerful online peace conference titled “A World on Fire: Breaking the Cycle of Endless Wars.” Chaired by Rita Payne, President Emeritus of the Commonwealth Journalists Association, the event brought together distinguished speakers from across the globe to explore why wars continue to plague our world — and how we can replace militarism with cooperation, justice, and peace.
Speakers included Vijay Mehta, Thomas Daffern, Biljana Vankovska, Rivera Sun, and Ahmad Shahidov, who offered diverse insights on the political, moral, and human dimensions of conflict. Their discussion highlighted the urgent need to challenge the culture of war and to invest in peacebuilding, dialogue, and nonviolence.
